Airsoft Camp for kids ages 10-16
Get in the game! Join us for the best team sport/live action game you’ll ever play.
What is Airsoft?
Airsoft is a team-based shooting sport where players simulate military combat by using replica firearms to shoot small, spherical plastic BBs at each other. Airsoft games involve players engaging in mock battles, often with pre-determined objectives, scenarios, or rules. The goal is to achieve objectives or eliminate the opposing team. Airsoft is often referred to as a “sport of honor” because players are expected to be truthful about calling their own hits, fostering a high degree of trust and sportsmanship.
Important Note: Airsoft guns shoot plastic BBs and these can cause a stinging or sharp sensation and may leave a small bruise or red spot. This minor discomfort is part of the game, short-lived and fades quickly. We recommend kids wear long sleeves and sweatpants to minimize any discomfort.
Is Airsoft a safe activity/sport?
Yes! Airsoft is a safe and amazingly fun sport. Strict rules are enforced to ensure all players are safely conducting themselves. Minor injuries can happen but when played with proper safety gear, responsible behavior, and adherence to rules (all of which are supervised and ensured by the instructors and staff), most risk is eliminated.
Are food and beverages provided throughout the day?
We ask that parents pack a lunch and for each child attending the camp. Water is provided throughout. Kids can purchase their own snacks or alternate drinks at the front desk. On the last day of camp (Friday), CIA does an “end of camp” celebratory lunch that includes cheese and pepperoni pizza for kids whose dietary restrictions don’t preclude pizza.
Can parents watch Airsoft drills and training?
Yes! Parents are welcome to watch Speedsoft activities from the store. For CQB drills, parents are allowed on the field if they are wearing the appropriate eye protection (provided by CIA).
How do I know my kid will be safe?
Safety is our top priority for all players. Our staff is trained to ensure all participants follow the rules. Details about Airsoft game play, Rules and Safety are available on our website. These apply to all our players regardless of age.
How old does my kid need to be to participate?
Airsoft camp is open to children ages 10-16.
Can girls play too?
Absolutely! Our camp is open to both boys and girls, and we encourage all kids to participate, regardless of gender.
What if my kid is the only girl?
We have a supportive, inclusive environment. Your child will be treated with the same respect and have just as much fun as the other participants.
What does my kid need to bring with them?
Aside from snacks and a lunch, we ask that kids come prepared with the appropriate attire. We provide all other necessary equipment including Airsoft guns, protective gear, and accessories.
What should my kid wear?
We recommend players wear a hoodie with long sleeves, loose fitting sweatpants, gloves that are flexible and provide some grip (mechanics, motorcycle and gardening gloves are usually fine) and closed toe shoes that provide full foot coverage like sneakers (no Crocs or sandals).
Why is Airsoft better than a more traditional summer camp?
Traditional camps are great, but Airsoft is different. It’s exciting, it’s fun. The game naturally motivates fitness, teamwork and cooperation. It teaches real life skills like strategy, goal achievement, mutual respect and conflict resolution, all practical everyday skills that kids will carry throughout their entire lives. It can actually make your kids safer by teaching them situational awareness and tactical thinking. The best part is that kids learn all of this just by playing the game.
Does my kid need to know Airsoft to attend or have a certain fitness level?
No. Your kid needs no prior experience with Airsoft to attend and we encourage kids of all fitness levels to attend. Whether your child prefers to be a “run and gun” player or a “stealth” player is entirely up to them. We offer instruction and guidance, ensuring everyone feels comfortable regardless of their experience and physical fitness.
What are the benefits of Airsoft for my kids?
There are so many benefits to kids who play Airsoft, that it’s a struggle to name them all but here’s a short list.
Physical Benefits: Fitness. Airsoft is a great form of exercise, requiring players to run, move quickly, and navigate terrain, boosting stamina and agility. Cardiovascular Health. The physical activity involved in airsoft games improves heart and circulatory system endurance. Strength.
Running, dodging, and moving with equipment strengthens muscles in the legs, arms, and back. Hand-Eye Coordination. Shooting and reacting to the environment improves hand-eye coordination and reflexes.
Mental and Social Benefits: Stress Relief. The intense focus required during gameplay can help players temporarily forget about daily stressors and promote a sense of well-being. Teamwork and Communication. Airsoft is a team-based activity that encourages players to communicate effectively and work together to achieve objectives. Social Interaction. Airsoft provides opportunities to meet new people, build friendships, and strengthen existing relationships through shared experiences and a common interest. Problem-Solving and Strategy. Airsoft games require players to think critically, strategize, and make quick decisions, enhancing problem-solving skills. Skill Development. Airsoft helps players develop a range of valuable skills, including shooting accuracy, situational awareness, and tactical thinking. Community Building. Airsoft fosters a sense of community among players, with shared experiences and a common passion for the sport.
Life Benefits: Kids learn that honor and integrity matters, that working together is more effective and fun than working alone and that they can win and lose with equal dignity. Games are short so kids have a ton of opportunities to grow and try out new skills throughout the week. Airsoft works on the honor system; we foster the idea that you don’t lose by calling your hits. You learn where your opponents are and adjust your tactics to overcome them.
Who supervises?
Our staff is fully trained to supervise and guide kids. A minimum of three instructors are there for a class of no more than 20 kids. There will always be adults on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.
What’s the day at Airsoft camp look like?
A typical day at camp is packed with action! You can find the full schedule on the signup page, which includes a mix of drills, games, breaks, activities and instruction on gun and weapon safety.
Is there anything else I need to know?
CIA is all about fun and the comradery the game inspires. Airsoft is built on a foundation of honor, respect, integrity and safety. Outside of the many benefits of Airsoft for kids, we want kids who love video games to want to get off the couch and away from the screen! Airsoft allows them to be part of the game, running, shooting, strategizing and working cooperatively with other kids to achieve their goals. There are no trophies in life so there are none at Airsoft camp. Winning is great. Losing, figuring out where you went wrong as a team and then winning is even better.
Your child will come home tired, hungry, with increased confidence and with an incredible sense of achievement!
